I’ve known Tricia for a long time, since she just before she had her first baby, for this maternity (her 4th) she joined forces with her sister and we headed out toward Roslyn(From Northern Exposure fame) and Ellensburg for some cool settings. We had a great day and here are a few of their photos.
We recently did a photo shoot of Monika & a really cool vintage Porsche 911. In case you’re wondering it was a 1968 Porsche 911T, with the “T” standing for “Touring” and not “Turbo” as many people think. Wanting to get out of the local area we found a couple of really cool spots in Elbe to take photos and had a great time. We’re always happy to work with you to come up with a plan for your photo sessions and don’t mind going to different locations to get the right settings for your photo session.
Wanting more than just straight portraits and having a really cool car to use for the photos we went over a plan that would give us some time to do photos in a couple of locations, including a seldom used airport that had great access, this was perfect for the sunset photos since we didn’t have to worry about any obstructions nearby and living in Western WA we were lucky to actually get a sunset we could see and not just clouds.
Kyle & Jamie had a very intimate wedding ceremony at Clearwater Resort & Casino in Poulsbo, WA with their best friends & family. They love beer so much that rather than a blending of the sands ceremony during the wedding they made a Black & Tan for the couple and wedding party to share. Once they were married there was a brunch followed by a tour of breweries in the Poulsbo area. It was a first for us and a LOT of fun for everybody involved.
Bainbridge Island Brewing
Cindy & Jerold tied the knot this summer on the grounds of a Summer Camp on Fox Island, WA. Where’s that? Out past Gig Harbor, we’d never been there either, but it was a great venue. This couple was so in love, the groom did a happy dance when he was told he could kiss the bride! Why on earth is there a photo of a dog hanging out in the grass? He’s the camp dog and made him self at home during the wedding, even hanging out with the bride during the ceremony.
We truly live in the most amazing of places. Being Seattle wedding photographers is a dream. And, as an added bonus, cloud cover is actually great for photos.
Not too long ago we started a Firstlight Photography Pinterest Washington Wedding Venue Board and are trying to capture all of the Washington wedding venues where we have photographed weddings. We’d be lying if we didn’t say we had a long way to go.
Our newest venue crush is Rein Fire Ranch in Ravensdale, WA. The owners hosted us for a recent bridal portrait shoot that has been in the works for several years. We initially shot Tiffany and Brandon’s Friday the 13th wedding years ago. They were our first Offbeat Bride couple.
Tiffany is the most amazing of sports so we approached her at the end of last year with a Trash the Dress proposal. Since she had already worn her dress for a cemetery shoot, a library dress up event, Halloween and we think she even said she vacuumed her house in it – she agreed it was time to kick it up a notch. She was of the mind to go big or go home so we knew we needed some fire power behind us. We plotted out the demise of her dress (and we should mention that she and Brandon are still going strong!) and set our plan in motion.
We invited JoAnn from Studio J Salon and Day Spa to do Tiffany’s hair and makeup. We wanted to do a final farewell to the dress so we captured some bridal shots of Tiffany. From there, it was back to hair and makeup for a much different look.
Tiffany has worked with Firstlight Photography for so many years now that photographing her is so incredibly easy. She has got it down. We all had so much fun as we wandered the grounds of Rein Fire Ranch. We even had a chance to spend time with some of the furry critters that call RFR home.
Here is a sneak peek at the second part of the session. We had a blast with this Trash the Dress session! Stay tuned for more!
My parents paid loads for my senior portrait – I say portrait because I only recall seeing one image. Every moment of my studio session was like torture. The backdrop scene was a forest with a fake fence prop. I really didn’t know what was happening. The photographer was, well, sort of uninterested in his job and I just wanted to escape the cheese factor asap. Sorry Dad and Mom.
At Firstlight Photography we want our seniors to have FUN. You have a say – lots of it – in your shoot. It is simple. If you feel in control and are having fun it will show in your photos. Senior portraits are meant to capture a very special moment in time. We will talk to you about your interests, where you like to hang out, how you spend your time when not in school, if you play sports or are in a band etc. We like to get to know you so we can create a lifestyle session that helps show who you are – not who your photographer wants you to be (ie that sad farm girl with the fake fence).
We will help prepare you for outfits to bring and will refer you to hair and make-up artists we recommend if you so desire. We have a whole repertoire of locations we shoot. We find many new ones based on our seniors’ input. If you are going for a downtown, urban grunge, graffiti wall, waterfront, rustic barn, decomposing structures, nature vibe or even your high school – we can work it into your shoot.
We also offer a year in the life packages for the senior. We basically stalk you on three to five shoots and capture you in your natural habitat. These sessions are lots of fun. By the end, our seniors are ready to assist any photographer – they really learn the ropes and get an amazing collection of photos.
Your shoot will be fun and you will get to provide input into the session. We don’t want you to have those sad farm girl pictures too.
Our prices are very affordable and we will create custom packages for you.
We love what we do and feel so fortunate that we have met amazing wedding vendors over the years. We just got a referral from Annemarie Juhlian, an amazing nondenominational officiant serving the Puget Sound and beyond region.
Last year we ended up doing three weddings with her (which is alot with just one officiant). We realized our clients were similar and we loved working together. She does a great job of getting to know the couple and crafting a very specialized service. She basically makes Mitzi wife tear up every single time. She is thoughtful and it shines through.
We are fortunate to get to work with her on many elopements. She started an amazing site called Elope Seattle Style. She guides couples through all the ropes for a Puget Sound elopement.
The end of the school year is upon us and we’re getting a rush of seniors wanting photos. While it is getting late in the year to book packages (we do still have some time slots open) it is not too early for all the juniors to start thinking about their senior portraits.
Firstlight Photography is looking for 6 Puyallup seniors that would like to earn free senior portraits for the 2011/2012 school year and help represent Firstlight at their schools. We will be selecting one boy and one girl from Puyallup, Rogers & Emerald Ridge. All you need to do to be considered is send us an e-mail with your contact information and tell us about yourself and why we should pick you. We’ll be taking submissions throughout summer and will make our decision before the start of the school year. More details will be posted to our Facebook page, so make sure to check in and press the “like” button while you’re there.
When we started offering our “Little Black Book” boudoir photo sessions we new we had the right idea, but the response has ben amazing. Recently I got a call from one of our brides when she wanted some special photos to give her husband on their upcoming anniversary. We actually got a message from her within seconds of our first posting about doing our Little Black Book sessions. She was more than happy to share the photos, but since hubby hasn’t seen them yet we’re only only posting a small preview of her photos right now. You can see more at our WEB SITE as well.
While you can’t see it in any of these photos Kari Baumann did the make-up for this session as well as for her wedding and she did a great job. It was good to work with her again.
