The end of the school year is upon us and we’re getting a rush of seniors wanting photos. While it is getting late in the year to book packages (we do still have some time slots open) it is not too early for all the juniors to start thinking about their senior portraits.
Firstlight Photography is looking for 6 Puyallup seniors that would like to earn free senior portraits for the 2011/2012 school year and help represent Firstlight at their schools. We will be selecting one boy and one girl from Puyallup, Rogers & Emerald Ridge. All you need to do to be considered is send us an e-mail with your contact information and tell us about yourself and why we should pick you. We’ll be taking submissions throughout summer and will make our decision before the start of the school year. More details will be posted to our Facebook page, so make sure to check in and press the “like” button while you’re there.
We’re back at the WIAA 3A state high school basketball championship this week. The day started off with Lynnwood playing the Prairie girls. It was an exciting game and could have gone either way until the very end when Prairie kicked it up a notch and won the game 47 to 38. Much different from the game currently going on, Holy Names 30 – Yelm 12 in the 2nd quarter. I hate to say it, but I’m pretty sure how this game will end.

I just got done shooting the first game of the 2nd day of the WIAA State Basketball Championship, Stanwood vs Auburn HS. It was an exciting game, although it didn’t start out that way. In the end, Stanwood won by just 4 points in the last few minutes after leading by as much as 16 points in the 2nd half. This begs the question: “Did they win or did they just not loose?”
I’m at it again! Four more days of basketball and we were off to a great start yesterday even with the last game not ending until 11:30pm and I was right back at it again at 8am today! I’d be exhausted, but there is a lot of great basketball being played. Yes, some games aren’t all that great. Franklin HS just beat Auburn Mt. View by nearly 20 points, but other games have been nail biters right up to the last second. Yesterday Lakeside beat Hazen by 3 points, but it was just a 1 point game until the last 30 seconds. That’s an amazing game!
The only real down side is that there aren’t any coaches that put on a fashion show like Jerome Collins from Federal Way, but you can’t have everything.
Yes, I’m a few days late posting this, in fact I’m at the 3A Basketball tournament right now and will be for the next 4 days, but I just had to update my post about Jermoe Collins and Federal Way High Schools boys basketball team, they WON! Not only that but coach Collins was once again rocking a new suit. Congratulations Coach Collins and Federal Way Basketball!
I’ve been doing photography in one form or another for over 23 years now. It’s more than just a little bit scary to think about it, but over the years I have had a chance to do a lot of really cool things, from traveling across the country taking pictures of hospitals, shooting some really cool weddings, taking pictures of celebrities and a few politicians, but over the last 8 years one of my favorite things I get to shoot every year is the Washington state high school basketball tournaments.
I have been shooting the WIAA State Basketball tournament at the Tacoma Dome for 7, or is it 8, years and there is one thing I look forward to every year. What is Federal Way High School’s coach, Jerome Collins, going to wear? My favorite was an electric blue suit with a knee length coat he wore a couple of years ago.
Today he was at it again, coaching his number 1 ranked basketball team to another victory over Redmond High School and looking good doing it!
