Some of our favorite photos taken at a recent wedding at Heartland Ranch in Graham, WA. We love this venue, not just because of the great locations for photos, but the friendly staff really go out of their way to help out.
When we started offering our “Little Black Book” boudoir photo sessions we new we had the right idea, but the response has ben amazing. Recently I got a call from one of our brides when she wanted some special photos to give her husband on their upcoming anniversary. We actually got a message from her within seconds of our first posting about doing our Little Black Book sessions. She was more than happy to share the photos, but since hubby hasn’t seen them yet we’re only only posting a small preview of her photos right now. You can see more at our WEB SITE as well.
While you can’t see it in any of these photos Kari Baumann did the make-up for this session as well as for her wedding and she did a great job. It was good to work with her again.
Stay tuned for Green Wedding Week, starting tomorrow, February 14. Every day will feature an eco-friendly alternative to the elements of a standard wedding, from cakes to flowers and lodging. You’ll learn how to transform your wedding into a model contemporary celebration and have a blast while you’re at it!
Weekend: Start Planning!
Tricia Fisk, wedding planner extraordinaire, from Weddings Realized is such a fun client. She and her husband Chas have stopped by our home studio twice for a 6th and 7th month maternity photo session.
Having Fun @ Your Shoot
These pictures show a couple not afraid of a good time. At Firstlight Photography we want you to have fun during your session. We never take ourselves too seriously – and we won’t let you! Our goal is to get natural shots. For our shy clients we pull out the studio dogs. Actually, who are we kidding? The dogs love to have their pics taken so much that sometimes we need to put them in our office.
Takin’ it on the Road
At 8 months we are heading to the Fisk’s home to do some nursery photos and hopefully – weather permitting – some outdoor shots of this super fun couple.
We can’t wait to take the baby photos! We love this couple. For more maternity photos visit our main website!
We’re back at the WIAA 3A state high school basketball championship this week. The day started off with Lynnwood playing the Prairie girls. It was an exciting game and could have gone either way until the very end when Prairie kicked it up a notch and won the game 47 to 38. Much different from the game currently going on, Holy Names 30 – Yelm 12 in the 2nd quarter. I hate to say it, but I’m pretty sure how this game will end.
If you’d like to follow the games, you can check the brackets HERE
I just got done shooting the first game of the 2nd day of the WIAA State Basketball Championship, Stanwood vs Auburn HS. It was an exciting game, although it didn’t start out that way. In the end, Stanwood won by just 4 points in the last few minutes after leading by as much as 16 points in the 2nd half. This begs the question: “Did they win or did they just not loose?”
Here we are again, day one of the WIAA State 4A Basketball Championship and it’s off to a big start. Although I’ve shot sports for years and I really love shooting this tournament I do not pretend to be a sports writer, or really much into sports at all. I do enjoy watching basketball and at this tournament there is some great basketball being played. Another highlight is what Federal Way High School’s head coach, Jerome Collins, is wearing. He didn’t dissapoint, check out this gold suit!
For most of my life my two biggest obsessions have been airplanes and photography and I love it when those two obsessions meet. This DC-3 showed up at Thun Field in Puyallup recently and last night I just had to go take some photos of it. It didn’t matter how cold and wet it was, I really wanted to get out there. I figured the mistwould do great things with the lights at Thun Field. This is really one of the nicest DC-3’s I’ve ever seen and if my my information is correct it is the property of the Thun family. Well, they did a great job and I’m so glad it is there for me to photograph.
It’s taken me a while to post these photos. Summer is a crazy time for a wedding photographer and now that things are calming down a little bit I’ve been able to post theres. This wedding took place on a bluff overlooking the Sound and was one of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever had the pleasure to shoot a wedding in. The Groom had been a bull rider in the rodeo and they both love horses, so the bride arrived at the wedding on horseback and at the end of the ceremony they both got on the horse and rode away. It was all very cool.
While I’ve shot a lot of weddings I’d never claim that they all start looking alike, BUT from time to time one of them will really stand out from the rest. The reasons vary, it could be a couple you really build a bond with, a really cool location or sometimes it is just the day they decide to get married on.
Yesterday, Friday the 13th, I shot a wedding that stood out for all of those reasons. The couple was very friendly and the bride treated me more like a member of the family than the hired photographer, there was a very interesting cast of characters and NO BRIDESMAIDS! Yes, that’s correct, the bride had 3 guys as bridesmaids, so I guess there were bridesmaids, but no women serving in those rolls. The bride had some music I’d never heard played at a wedding and walked down the aisle to “Going to the chapel”. Even after all the weddings we’ve shot it was a day filled with firsts and I’ll never forget it.
