In the words of the chef, “This chiffon cake filled with rose-scented whipped cream is inspired by the aromatics found in Persian, Turkish, and Indian confections. Cardamom seeds have more flavor than the ground powder and are like little explosions of spice in the cake.” Persian Love Cake, a recipe concocted in the professional kitchens of Bon Appetit Magazine, is a phenomenal choice for your homemade date.

Firstlight Photography welcomes Molly!

These pictures of Molly were taken within her first week.  It is a crazy time for new parents – even experienced parents like Molly’s (she’s their fourth girl!) but these early shots are so amazing.

Because it is hard for new parents to travel to our studio, we like to bring the show on the road.  Within minutes our lights and backdrop are ready to go – right in the comfort of your own home.  This is especially helpful for the parents of young children.

Keep Firstlight Photography on speed dial and we can pay you a visit when your new addition arrives.

Please call 253.335.7958 to find out about our winter portrait specials.

Over the weekend we were at a wedding show in Tacoma put on by South Sound Wedding & Event Magazine.  It was a great show, met a lot of people, including quite a few vendors that I will be sharing with you.   The show was at the convention center and was much nicer than the shows I’ve been at in the Tacoma Dome.  Not only is the venue nicer, but the show was a little smaller giving brides a chance to really interact with the vendors and giving them a fighting chance to remember those that they liked.   I had a great time and am looking forward to the next show on JAN 31st at the Great Wolf Lodge!

Why do I love my “job” so much?  I love it because I get to work with some of the coolest people I’ve ever known!  I literally just got home from their wedding, and I couldn’t wait to post this photo, the rest of the photos are still downloading as I type this.  David & Mandy were so much fun to work with, the entire day just flew by and I ended up doing Mandy’s sister’s senior photos when the wedding was over.

The Cake Must Die!

I just got an e-mail from a client that had posted her wedding photos on her Facebook page and I wanted to share the comment.

This guy took some of the best wedding picture at the Seattle temple I’ve seen! He’s good!”

Cindy and Camron got married at the LDS Temple in Seattle / Bellevue a few weeks ago and I was very excited to shoot their wedding photos there.  While I say that I shot their wedding photos, this isn’t exactly accurate.  There is no photography allowed of inside the Temple of the wedding, so as a wedding photographer I waited outside for the happy couple to exit the Temple and be greeted by their friends that were waiting for them outside.  I’m not LDS, but over the years I’ve had so many really great friends, neighbors and clients that are and to be honest I really love working at the Bellevue Temple.  The grounds are amazing and the temple makes an awe inspiring background.  I think that one of the great things about shooting wedding photos for an LDS couple is that by the time you start taking their photos, they’re already married and all the pressure is off of them.   I had such a great time working with Cindy and Camron, they were so excited to be married and it really came through in their pictures.  We worked our way around the temple grounds and and had a great time getting taking their photos.  While not always the case, after we finished their photos at the temple I also got to take pictures of their ring ceremony and reception after the wedding.

Many of our couples that get married at the Temple are only looking for  formal portraits on the Temple grounds and don’t need a full wedding package.  We do offer special packages in these cases.  If you are interested please e-mail ( kier@firstlight-photography.com ) or call 253.335.7958 and we will build a special package to meet your needs.
